Ontario Autism Program (OAP) Funding: A Parent’s Guide

The Ontario Autism Program (OAP) provides funding and supports for children and youth with autism and their families. These services are designed to meet the unique needs of your child, helping them thrive at home, school, and in the community.


What Services Are Covered?


OAP funding can support a range of services, including:

  • Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy

  • Speech-Language Pathology

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Mental Health Services, including counselling or psychotherapy

  • Technology, program materials, and therapy equipment recommended by a BCBA or regulated professional


Additional supports may include:

  • Foundational family services

  • Caregiver-mediated early years programs

  • Entry-to-school programs

  • Urgent response services


Am I Eligible?


To qualify for OAP funding:

  1. Your child must be under 18 years old.

  2. Your child must live in Ontario.

  3. Your child must have a written autism diagnosis from a qualified professional.


How to Access Funding: Step-by-Step

  1. Gather Your Documents

    • Autism diagnosis report

    • Child’s health and educational information

    • Any previous therapy records (if applicable)

  2. Contact AccessOAP

    • AccessOAP manages applications and funding.

    • A Care Coordinator can guide you through the process and help you make informed decisions.

  3. Submit Your Application

    • Complete the OAP registration and provide required documentation.

    • Your Care Coordinator will review eligibility and funding options.

  4. Work With Your Service Providers

    • Once approved, use your funding to access recommended therapies.

    • Services can be provided at home, at clinics, or in school settings.

  5. Ongoing Support

    • Stay in contact with your Care Coordinator for updates, additional funding, or program changes.

    • Track your child’s progress to make adjustments to therapy as needed.
